According to the data, from January to May, the output of the national plastic products industry was 30.028 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.0%.
It is understood that among the 31 provinces and cities included in the statistics, more than half of the provinces and cities achieved a year-on-year increase in the output of plastic products in May. Among them, Anhui, Fujian, Chongqing, Guizhou, Gansu and other cities increased by more than 10% year-on-year; Hainan and Qinghai increased by more than 40% year-on-year. In addition, according to the data of the General Administration of Customs, in May 2024, the export value of plastic products was 9.3 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 10.5%; From January to May, the total export value of plastic products was 43.87 billion US dollars, also a year-on-year increase of 8.5%.
On the whole, analysts believe that in the second half of the year, the plastics industry will be supported by the demand of household appliances, automobiles, infrastructure and other industries, and throughout the "Golden September and Silver October" seasonal demand season, the demand is resilient, and the overall performance of the industry is expected to be better than in the first half of the year.
This conclusion is mainly due to the impact of factors such as the cost support provided by the upward expectation of energy, the promotion of consumption promotion policies, and the inertia of traditional production can also boost the price of raw materials. Among them, especially the implementation plan for promoting large-scale equipment renewal and trade-in of consumer goods, which is being vigorously promoted in China, is expected to bring more market demand to the plastics industry, as well as the expectation that it will continue to rise.
However, the increase will be limited by the restart of maintenance units and the supply of new units coming into operation. In addition, it is important to note that the plastics industry will become more sustainable as environmental awareness grows.
